ingredients for grapefruit hibiscus lemonade
2 grapefruits (1 cup grapefruit juice)
1 cup lemon juice
1/2 cup simple syrup
1/2 cup hibiscus syrup
2 cups water
simple syrups
I use a combination of hibiscus syrup and simple syrup to sweeten. Hibiscus is a bit tart so adding some straight simple syrup will take some of the bite away.

Making simple syrup is.. simple.. hehe. The basic ratio is one cup liquid to one cup sugar. See my post on hibiscus syrup here for directions on how to make it. For the simple syrup you can just cook 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of water together, stir until the sugar dissolves and then remove the spoon. Let it cook down about a third of the way and remove from heat. Let it cool a bit before using.
making the grapefruit hibiscus lemonade
Start by juicing two whole grapefruits. I just used my old fashioned hand juicer. I was able to get one cup of grapefruit juice. You may get more or less depending on the juiciness of your grapefruit.
Then add all the ingredients to a pitcher and stir together. Add more simple syrup to sweeten or more lemon juice if you like it more tart.

Fill a cup with ice, pour some grapefruit hibiscus lemonade on it and enjoy! 🖤 dez
