Hey there, I am dez, a mom of four, wife and baker.
I am kinda obsessed with baking and cooking, but not in a “I am going to perfect every recipe” kind of way. I have more of a “how can I make this easier” outlook.
I started working on developing recipes when I had my third business. It was a cute little bistro and it was all I did, besides mommin’. During this time I transitioned the business from outsourcing a lot of our products to making them in house. We made everything from breads, bagels and baked goods to our salad dressings and the stock for our soups. I honestly loved coming up with new items and new ways of stretching and using ingredients.
After ten years of business I decided to sell. It broke my heart but was a huge relief at the same time. I wanted more time with my kids, I wanted to be more present. And I wanted to be able to travel if and when we could.
In 2019 we moved from Washington State to Maryland. I was ready to get out of my hometown and see other places. My hubby and I have four kids so this was not a decision we made lightly but we wanted them to have this experience as well. We have done more traveling in our short time on the east coast then we have in our entire lives. It has been amazing.
Before we moved I wanted to start a blog. A place where I could share my recipes and still have an outlet for creativity. That is when dez the bakist was made. I still have a huge pile of recipes from my restaurant and so many that I wanted to use there that I hadn’t. I am also trying to tie in the tricks I learned with food prep and time management from my restaurant days. As well as reworking the recipes for making at home.
I hope you can find use in the recipes and pages of this blog for your own home and life. Thank you for coming by, dez.
